It is, for many, a staple.īeing the default photo viewer, Preview will automatically launch if you open any image or PDF document on your Mac.

Preview does many things on top of letting you view, edit, and annotate images and PDF documents, Preview can also import and export documents to various file formats. My question is, do you know of any other light weight, simple image viewer that would meet my criteria? It needs to be able to run on latest Mac OS.The default image viewer on Mac is Preview, a stock macOS app that actually originated at NeXT. I don't mind paying but I already paid for FastRawViewer so not too keen on paying for another app that does very similar things.

I also like that it closes when you hit ESC after viewing the image and app is not running in the background. Lyn - It's the best I could find so far except it's strange that it loads RAF files much faster than jpeg's when skipping through the images. QView - would of been perfect, but it didn't support viewing any RAW files. Xee3 - would of been perfect, but it didn't support viewing RAF files. XnView XP - very similar to FastStone but there is no zoom option with the scroll well. Mac OS build in Preview - would be perfect if it would go to the next image in the folder without having to select them before hand. I couldn't find single app for the Mac yet that would meet my criteria.
